My Tho is a capital city of Tien Giang province, and is about 2 hour drive from Sai Gon. My Tho has long been famous for its orchids, coconut palms, and fruit. The economy of the area is based on fishing and the cultivation of rice, bananas, citrus fruit, coconuts, longans, and mangos. One of the main attraction of My Tho is the ancient pagoda of Vinh Trang, that was built at the end of 17th century. And if you are not scared, do not miss the famous snake farm of Dong Tam.

Bung Tat Village restaurant
At Bung Tat village we stopped at a nice tourist restaurant and had elephant eared fish, tropical fruits, and beer. It was an excellent break from touring.

For lunch we stopped at the Hoa Ai restaurant by the river… which is nicely located in a large garden with colourful trees. A tourist restaurant, but quite a good one, for a change. However, the restaurant is slightly pricey by local standards. The speciality is a fish from the delta, called elephant ear…

Transportation
Getting There
There is a regular bus service from Mien Tay station in Sai Gon to My Tho beginning early morning. It takes about 2 hours to cover the 70km. There is also a hydrofoil service that runs to/from Sai Gon three times per week.
